Masterpost: Riverdale Road to San Diego Comic Con

The day we all awaited for has finally arrived! No, its not Riverdale’s premiere but its the casts appearance at San Diego Comic Con, the biggest convention of them all! As far as we know the members attending the convention are KJ Apa, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch and Ashleigh Murray but who knows, maybe any other of the cast members will surprise us by making an appearance! To celebrate San Diego Comic Con i’ve decided to make a masterpost with all that has been happening the last few days, to prepare you for today!

  • It has been announced that season 1 is set to start shooting on September 7, in Vancouver!
  • Stephen Jackson (Once Upon A Time) will be the Director of Photography.
  • Talk Nerdy With Us and Starry Mag will be covering Riverdale during San Diego Comic Con.
  • Lisa Steinberg will be interviewing the cast as well.
  • Lee Toland Krieger will be directing episode 2 and 3 of Riverdale.
  • To get the fans pumped for the show, not only one poster has been released but also one episode still of Archie (KJ Apa) with his father, Fred Andrews (Luke Perry).
  • Riverdale had its pilot screening at San Diego Comic Con this Wednesday, July 20. The reviews for the pilot were good as its described as “a solid balance between tongue-in-cheek self-awareness and genuine emotions”. Nerdist wrote a post on the pilot, naming it “The best new drama of the season”, whilei09 went further by calling the series “Teenage Noir Soap Opera”.
  • The cast attended last night the SRSLY Superpower Hour with BuzzFeed and The CW as you can check out the first pictures from the event at our gallery, plus snapchat videos and photos on our twitter.

And looks like we’re all caught up for today! Hopefully a trailer will be released today, as we have been waiting for it quite a while now. As of San Diego Comic Con schedule for today, we have:

  • Archie Comics Forever: 75 Years of Storytelling (1:00PM / Room 4) – Its mostly related to the comics and not the show but on the events official description, it is said there might be a special Riverdale surprise appearance or two.
  • Riverdale Signing (5:30PM / Warner Bros. Booth)
  • Riverdale Pilot Screening and Q&A (6:30PM / Room 6BCF)

Make sure to follow us on twitter as we will be mostly there RT’ing and posting everything Riverdale and KJ Apa related that happens during San Diego Comic Con!

Here are the Wackiest Things Happening in the CW’s “Archie” Adaptation, “Riverdale”

VANITY FAIR — Of all the new shows coming to the CW, the one stoking the most anticipation seems to be Riverdale, a dark TV adaptation of the long-running Archie comics. In a 2014 interview, back before the show moved from Fox to the CW, pilot writer and Archie Comics chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa even compared the show to Twin Peaks.

Given the details we’ve been able to tease out without having seen a trailer (which, feel free to deliver that anytime, CW), it’s easy to see why: like Twin Peaks, this show sounds absolutely bonkers. Here are a few things you can expect.

Like David Lynch’s masterpiece, it looks like at least the first season of Riverdale will focus on a murder. According to the show’s official synopsis, Riverdale begins with the titular town and high school “reeling from the recent, tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom.”

Jason was the twin brother of Cheryl Blossom, the town’s resident queen bee. (In the mode of all great TV queen bees before her, Cheryl is also hiding something—and it has to do with her brother’s death.) The trailer shown at the network’s upfront event (which has not yet been released to the public) reportedly featured the murder front and center: one couple apparently reacted to the news by saying, “I hope in his last moments he suffered.” Yeesh.
